Caring for self, caring for others
Developing a loving, caring attitude towards our family and friends, our society and our planet depends very much on the care and love we are able to develop towards oneself. The practice of self-compassion and loving-kindness help us get in touch with the tenderness, openness and kindness of the heart, and frees us from the reactive patterns derived from the boundaries we normally live by—good and bad; love and aversion; self and others—.
During this public teaching open to all, Gyetrul Jigme Rinpoche will introduce participants to the meditative practices of loving-kindness (Metta) and the teachings on the Four Incommensurable Thoughts, methods that help expand one’s own capacity to experience self and reality in a boundless, unifying and compassionate way.
Gyetrul Jigme Rinpoche is a master of Buddhist meditation and philosophy under the Kagyu and Nygma traditions. Born in India in October 1970, he is the heir to the Ripa spiritual lineage, a line of reincarnated lamas that dates back to the 17th century in Eastern Tibet; he is the head of the lineage's monasteries in India and Nepal and the spiritual leader of a Tibetan community residing in exile in the state of Orissa, India.
Since 1996, Gyetrul Jigme Rinpoche has travelled extensively in Asia, Europe and the USA, giving lectures and seminars to a lay audience on topics as varied as meditation for the modern world, Eastern wisdom for modern complexity, goodness and creativity, authentic presence for leaders, etc. Rinpoche is the spiritual leader of over 6000 students all over the world and has opened teaching centers in Switzerland, France, Luxemburg, Spain, Germany, Russia, Japan and USA.
A socially engaged Buddhist teacher, as he is happy to be named, his direct understanding of the human mind, his lively and spontaneous speaking style and his crispiness and sense of humour make him a very relevant speaker in a variety of settings, especially in helping lay practitioners of all walks of life integrate traditional spiritual values into modern life.
Programme will be delivered in English with simultaneous translation into French, German and Spanish.
