STUPA FOR WORLD PEACE

A very special stupa is taking form

After seven years of planning, patience, and many stages, the time has finally come: A Stupa of Great Victory is being built at Landguet Ried. The project is a joint effort between Landguet Ried and the Ripa International Center. This is a very special moment for us, and our delight is boundless.

To make this special project a reality, we rely on your support. The estimated costs for planning, construction, landscaping, traditional filling, and artistic design will total over CHF 300’000.–.

If you would like to support the building of the stupa, we greatly appreciate a designated donation. Every contribution goes entirely toward the stupa project and helps bring this special place of blessing, compassion, and peace to life.

What exactly is a Stupa?

A Stupa is a Buddhist monument and a visible symbol of wisdom, compassion and inner peace. The form being built here is one of the eight traditional types of Stupa in Tibetan Buddhism. It commemorates the overcoming of obstacles and represents the strength that can arise from clarity, trust and compassion.

In the Buddhist tradition, a Stupa is also regarded as a sacred place of great blessing. Simply seeing a Stupa, spending time near it or mindfully walking around it is considered beneficial. You do not need to be Buddhist for this. The Stupa is there for everyone – and you are invited to encounter it in your own way: as a place of peace, strength, connection or simply as a special place to pause.

Especially at a time when peace is fragile in so many parts of the world, the meaning of this monument touches us deeply. The Stupa is also intended as a symbol that peace begins within and can be carried into our relationships with others – as an attitude, a hope and an invitation to greater connection and peace in the world.

At 8.5 metres high, the Stupa at Landguet Ried will be the tallest in Switzerland. Yet it is intended to be far more than an extraordinary monument. It will become a place to pause, meet, meditate and wonder – and to radiate something healing for generations to come.

We are very much looking forward to creating this special place together.
